Law firm’s auction of office furniture reduces impact on environment but increases impact on homelessness

MinterEllison’s recent relocation to Collins Arch in Melbourne provided a perfect opportunity to auction its surplus furniture from their former Rialto office for the Property Industry Foundation’s Furniture Fund. Its commitment to support PIF in this way is aligned to its community purpose which focuses on people and community, and so the ability to raise funds to give homeless youth in need a second chance was a perfect fit. As an added benefit it also minimised their footprint by reducing landfill.

A long-time supporter of the Foundation, MinterEllison continues to seek ways to support our initiatives. As a provider of the Foundation, it actively volunteers resources, people, knowledge and premises to help the Property Industry Foundation meet their social objectives.

Although not quite worthy of Antiques Roadshow, MinterEllison proved that excess furniture such as desks, chairs and cabinets can bring in good returns. In the end, a total of $22,560 was donated to the Property Industry Foundation through the Furniture Fund.
