National Hard Hat Day is the property and construction industry’s day to raise awareness and funds for homeless youth.

This year Hard Hat Day is on Friday 28 August 2020 – so save the date and put a reminder in your diaries to start thinking about how you can get your team engaged early, to make this campaign and day a success.

Last year, activities on site and in offices raised more than $225,000 in one day.

That’s enough for PIF to build four bedrooms for homeless youth across QLD, NSW and VIC.

Everyone from offices, construction companies, property development organisations, individuals or other foundations looking for a good cause to support. There are a dozen ways that you can get behind Hard Hat Day and over coming months, we’ll share stories of how others have raised money to help homeless young Australians.

Does your building or office order in one of those spectacular flower arrangements for your foyer or reception area?

The environmentalists among you will love this initiative. Staff from across the Westpac Group have the opportunity every Friday to bid on a floral decoration to take home with them. And all proceeds raised are donated to PIF’s Hart Hat campaign, raising a staggering $18k per annum. Now that’s a win win win, petal!

Got a busy team of builders on site who don’t mind a bit of a barbie?

Last year Mulitplex, one of our amazing long-term supporters, celebrated Hard Hat Day by hosting a BBQ across multiple sites staff and subbies. BBQs were fired up, sausages were sizzled, Hard Hat flags were hoisted on crane gantries as buckets rattled with donations, raising $15k.

Here’s a challenge for other builders and developers – can you better this fantastic effort by Multiplex in 2020?

Stay tuned for more ideas on how to get involved, but don’t forget to save the date and give yourself fair warning to get organised for what is one of our most important fundraising campaigns.
