The Sydney Charity Regatta set sail on Friday 13 May raising life changing funds for homeless youth building projects and initiatives.
The highly-anticipated 2026 Sydney Charity Regatta began with cloudy skies and drizzle, but nothing could dampen the spirits of over 700 industry supporters who gathered for a buzzy pre-race networking cocktail lunch at the club – including a popular Champagne and Oyster bar sponsored by Arealytics.
Guests heard from Property Industry Foundation CEO Kate Mills about the impact of the regatta over 27 years of sailing and Malcolm Tyson, Colliers CEO, about their role as the event’s sponsor for 19 of those years.
“2026 is the 30th anniversary of the Foundation,” said Kate. “The Sydney Charity Regatta is one of our longest standing fundraising events – 27 years of sailing for homeless youth. During this time, millions of dollars have been raised and translated into tangible impact. Together, we have built 278 bedrooms – delivering over 100,000 safe nights for vulnerable youth every year. In the last 6 years, over 2000 young people have slept in those bedrooms, giving them a chance at a new life. We are not done yet, though, with lots of exciting projects coming down the pipeline in the years to come. Watch this space.”
This meaningful social impact only comes through long-term partnerships, such as the one the Foundation shares with the regatta’s Principal Partner, Colliers. “Colliers is proud to have supported the Sydney Charity Regatta for over 19 years as Principal Partner,” said Malcolm. “It’s a great day of networking and provides the unique experience of sailing on the incredible Sydney Harbour – all with the benefit of knowing you are making a real impact and difference to homeless youth.”
Built joined the Sydney Regatta for the first time as Major Sponsor, after many years of supporting the Brisbane Charity Regatta. “Built is committed to having real and meaningful impact in our communities. We have been long time supporters of the work the Property Industry Foundation does to make a significant and tangible difference to youth homelessness and are thrilled to be the Major Partner of the Sydney Charity Regatta,” said Andrew Phillips – General Manager, New Business NSW Construction.
Due to some extra southerly buster winds, the full regatta was unable to go ahead, but the fleet enjoyed an altered course and time out on the water. The last boat docked, and it was time for the official After Sail Social Party to begin, sponsored by Built. With entertainment from a live band and DJ Robbie Rommers, a continued flow of champagne and oysters, and even delicious gelato from Pull’n Shots all Regatta guests were guaranteed a wonderful time.
