Colliers will once again sponsor the Property Industry Foundation’s Sydney Charity Regatta – an opportunity for the property and construction industry to enjoy a day out on the water and raise funds for homeless youth. In 2023, the regatta will be held on 10 March at the stunning Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in Darling Point, with the colourful theme of Rio Carnival. We had a chat to Malcom Tyson, Colliers Chief Executive Officer, Australia about their 20+ year commitment to supporting kids in need.
“It’s the highlight of the NSW property calendar. It’s a great way to kickstart the year, re-connect with colleagues and clients and enjoy a day out on our world-class harbour.”
Malcom Tyson, Colliers CEO Australia
Why has Colliers sponsored the Charity Regatta in Sydney for 2023?
Not for the first time!
Our longstanding partnership reflects Colliers values: do what’s right for our clients, people and communities. We are proud to once again be the principal sponsor of this event. We have partnered with the Property Industry Foundation for over 20 years now, providing not only significant financial support but an investment from our people through volunteering hours and industry expertise to help drive the Foundation’s mission.
What’s so special about the event?
It’s the highlight of the NSW property calendar. It’s a great way to kickstart the year, re-connect with colleagues and clients and enjoy a day out on our world-class harbour. All while knowing, we are coming together as one industry to support young Australians who need a helping hand.
Some of your favourite regatta memories?
We like to get a real mix of our people out to the NSW Regatta each year. It’s always great to see those new to the event experience racing for such a wonderful cause, on the world’s best harbour; and then enjoy the chance to network at such a well-attended industry event.
Why should people in the industry join in the fun and put a crew together?
It’s such a unique and special experience to be able to sail on Sydney Harbour with a professional crew – whether with colleagues or clients. It’s really unlike any other fundraising event on the property calendar. The afterparty is also a relaxed and friendly environment to build relationships across the industry, and never fails to deliver good time.
Why is it important for the building and construction industry to support building homes for homeless youth?
In my opinion the property industry is the most active business community in NSW, when it comes to banding together to support important causes like the property Industry Foundation. Over the past four years, events like the Sydney Charity Regatta have helped build over 100 bedrooms for homeless youth. It’s critical we come together and do our bit. We are an industry with a collective skillset that can provide such a wide range of support to get these homes up and running. From design, construction, trades, advisory and financial support – the impact we can make together is huge.
