Refurbishing a special place
For more than 130 years The Girls & Boys Brigade has provided a welcoming place for children and youth who need a helping hand. They take a pragmatic approach to supporting children and youth become better equipped to deal positively with life’s challenges.
Earlier this year, the CEO Stefan Lamour-Jansson approached Property Industry Foundation to assist with the refurbishment of their premises at Surry Hills, which receives more than 6,500 visits per year.
We are grateful to our donor, Turner – the award-winning design architectural practice, for coming on board to create the drawings plans for the reconfiguration. And likewise to our donor, Taylor Construction, who will be carrying out the works commencing later this month.
The works will provide the staff of The Girls & Boys Brigade with a space that is more pragmatic and will foster more cohesion. It’s terrific to be able to get back into projects related to our cause. We are certain the team will love their new space and it will foster even more cohesion as they roll out their programs, including after-school care and holiday programs for families who desperately need their support.
