Coronation has joined the fight against youth homelessness as a Property Industry Foundation Platinum Partner in NSW. We talked to Charlotte Dillon, Head of Philanthropy & Social Impact about how the Foundation aligns strongly with their philanthropy and social impact strategy.

What made Coronation want to commit to the Foundation as a Platinum Partner in NSW?

This year saw the launch of our philanthropic arm, Coronation Cares, which is aimed at supporting the people and organisations that help impact social change and improve the lives of residents in our local communities. We identified three key value pillars as part of our philanthropy & social impact strategy including Realising Potential, Homes for Everyone and Inclusive Representation. The work that the Foundation is doing aligns with our values and goals as a business and we’re proud to offer support as a Platinum Partner.

How did Coronation discover the Foundation’s work?

As we were designing our philanthropy and social impact strategy the people within our network mentioned some of the work the Foundation does. The initiatives really resonated with us, and we reached out to learn more.

What’s important to Coronation about supporting homeless youth?

Providing quality, affordable housing is a foundational element of the work we do, and we recognise that access to safe, affordable housing is crucial for individuals and families to lead fulfilling lives. However, systemic and socio-economic barriers can often prevent at-risk youth from affordable access to the housing market. We also know that a safe space to live means that youth can tackle any challenges they face without having the added burden of wondering where they are sleeping that night. We are passionate about supporting programs that empower youth to change the trajectory of their life, for the better.

Why is it important for the construction and property industry to support the Foundation in building and renovating more homes for at-risk youth?

As an industry, we have a responsibility to support the organisations that are on-the-ground helping those in need. The Foundation’s goal of building and renovating more homes for at-risk youth also aligns with our value pillar of Homes for Everyone. In addition to our support of the Foundation, we’re also committed to exploring the temporary use of our vacant buildings for housing where possible, providing pro bono services and materials to refurbish homes and donating quality furnishings.

“We are passionate about supporting programs that empower youth to change the trajectory of their life, for the better.”
