An opportunity to help make a house a home

We are delighted that the 6-bedroom house that the Foundation and Frasers are building in Clayton for Lighthouse Foundation is nearing completion! The onset of the pandemic last year delayed construction, but Fraser gamely continued and the house should be finished in August.

A completed house means that we can offer donors looking for an engagement opportunity to participate in our Make a House a Home workerbee program where teams come to the house for a ‘block-style’ competition to create the best-looking bedrooms. Your teams will put furniture together and dress bedrooms, the kitchen, the laundry and the lounge to make his house into a true home for the young people that will move in.

This is the 5th house that the Foundation has built or refurbished for the Lighthouse Foundation and we could not have done it without our building partner Frasers. It’s a true collaboration when we bring organisations like Frasers and Lighthouse together to get a great outcome for homeless youth. The home will have 2 full-time carers and 4 young people living in it. With the wrap-around care provided by Lighthouse, these 4 young people will have safety, security and a change at rebuilding their lives.

These workerbees will take place in August and participants need to cover the cost of the furniture and the lunch provided. Please contact Priscilla Heathwood at pheathwood@pif.com.au for more information.
