Getting to know the residents of our Haven Houses …

Frank* came to Haven House Dundas in Sydney’s North-West after being homeless for 18 months – couch surfing between his parent’s unsafe homes or crashing at his girlfriend’s place.

Initially, Frank wasn’t too keen on joining the home’s Kickstart Program, operated by Frontline Partner Wesley Mission. With gentle encouragement from his case manager and lead tenant, he gradually embraced the program and became an active and well-liked member of the household.

After 12 months living in a safe and secure home, Frank gained the self-confidence and life skills to move into his own shared apartment, where he’s working and planning his future, potentially breaking the vicious cycle of homelessness.

“Haven House Dundas and the Kickstart program provided Frank with the stability he needed to develop independent living skills, gain confidence, and find maturity – ultimately empowering him to succeed in his own place,” says Wesley Mission.
