On the road to make a house a home
What do you do when a wonderful furniture donation in Sydney needs to get to the home in need in Melbourne during Covid-19 restrictions?
You call on a long-time Foundation partner, Egans Asset Management, to provide space in both cities to receive and dispatch the four beds and mattresses donated by King Living.
“Egans is very pleased to be able to assist Property Industry Foundation with furniture delivery logistics for this fantastic project”
said Andrew Egan, Managing Director, Egans Office Removals.
They were not alone. Chris Richardson Removals were happy to move the furniture interstate.
“We were more than happy to assist with the furniture transport on such an amazing project. We look forward to contributing again in the future,”
said Markus Osmond, Interstate Operations Manager.
“Thank you to our long term partner Egans Asset Management and Chris Richardson Removals for coordinating a project like this under such tough conditions,”
“It is wonderful to see how the community comes together to solve such a logistical problem.”
said Kate Mills, CEO, Property Industry Foundation.
The Property Industry Foundation’s PIF House Clayton, in Victoria, is close to completion. This 6-bedroom home is being constructed by our building partner Frasers Property Australia for the Lighthouse Foundation. It will provide a refuge for Lighthouse kids from newborns all the way to 25-year-olds.
“In preparation for the opening of this house, the Property Industry Foundation works with our supporters to provide in-kind donations and be involved in workerbees to make a house a home,” said Kate Mills. “The generosity from King Living demonstrates that making homes is one of the industry’s greatest strengths. We are best-placed to build homes for homeless youth.”
“When we were connected to the Property Industry Foundation, we quickly saw that the work they were doing was life-changing for homeless youth and wanted to offer our support,” said Renata Bayer-Volf, King Living Foundation. “We have supported many of their projects by donating furniture from the King Living or the Design. Online collections. We hope that the beds and mattresses we donated for the PIF House Clayton will give the young people a little bit of extra comfort and a good night sleep.”
“It’s incredibly moving to see the community band together like this to make our PIF House Clayton, a home. King Living, Chris Richardson Removals and Egans have moved heaven and earth, during the lockdown of two states, to get this delivered. It’s heart-warming to know that they are just as determined as we are to see those brave young people walk through those doors and take their first steps to a better future. Thank you,”
