The Property Industry Foundation and the Lady Musgrave Trust, in partnership with the Queensland Government’s Housing Investment Fund, officially opened Jinndii Waijung (Haven House Logan) on Thursday 20 March to aid young mothers and children experiencing family and domestic violence.
Jinndii Waijung, meaning Mother’s Nest, in Yugembeh language, is a 9-bedroom housing complex providing vulnerable young mothers and children in the Logan region with up to 4,000 nights of transitional housing, and social support, in the proximity to local transport and schools.
The Foundation’s Queensland State Manager Antoinette Rusby-Perera said Jinndii Waijung’s opening marked a critical step forward in addressing and providing aid to those most impacted by the effects of the housing crisis.

“Projects like these not only construct physical spaces of refuge but also provide essential support lifelines that empower vulnerable people, including young mothers, to break the cycle of hardship,” Ms. Rusby-Perera said.
“These groups have been hit hard by the housing crisis and our hope is that Jinndii Waijung will provide hope, opportunities, and safety to rebuild.”
Lady Musgrave Trust CEO Victoria Parker said “the development provides young mothers with the tools to build a safer, brighter future for themselves and their children“.
“This Haven House project is based on the idea that the stay is a time of learning and transition. Jinndii Waijung provides a safe place to live within a community and offers an integrated environment for skills development, goal setting and learning,” Ms Parker said.

Jinndii Waijung will be operated by the Lady Musgrave Trust and will provide up to nine families at a time with safe, secure accommodation in Yarrabilba. Also supporting the project are Logan-based community group YFS, who will provide case management to tenants during their time at Jinndii Waijung.
