Haven House Shepparton (The Nest) is well underway in regional Victoria. In a partnership between the Property Industry Foundation, Women’s Property Initiatives and The Bridge Youth Services, 3 x two-bedroom modular homes will provide a safe haven for at-risk young mums and their child or children.
These innovative modular homes, designed by Schored Projects feature a central soft play area for children, as well as thoughtful, cutting-edge interiors to suit young families. Modular Spaces are the Building Partner for this project, with pro bono management from Gallagher Jeffs. Building permits have been issued, with preliminary landscaping done, and the modular homes being constructed in-factory. Once the homes are delivered to site in the second half of 2024, progress is expected to be rapid.
“The Nest project directly tackles a crucial social issue by providing safe, stable housing for vulnerable young mothers. This kind of support is essential for fostering healthier and more secure environments for these families, leading to better outcomes for both the mothers and their children,” says Tim d’Antoine, Director, Gallagher Jeffs. “On a personal and professional level, offering pro bono services to such a meaningful cause is immensely rewarding. It provides a sense of purpose and fulfillment, knowing that our skills are making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
Commitment & partnership
Projects such as these are only possible thanks to a collaborative effort from our industry supporters. “Modular Spaces has proven to be an exceptional partner, demonstrating a strong commitment to the project’s success and the future wellbeing of its tenants,” says Tim. “Their team’s dedication is evident in their meticulous attention to detail and their ability to foster strong relationships with trades and subcontractors. This collaborative approach has been instrumental in maintaining momentum and overcoming obstacles throughout the project. Moreover, Modular Spaces excels in problem-solving, consistently finding innovative solutions to keep the project on track. Their expertise and proactive attitude have been key factors in driving the project forward.”
Inspiring industry contribution
Haven House Shepparton (The Nest) will provide a secure home for vulnerable young mothers for up to five years, where they can rebuild their lives with the support of The Bridge Youth Services. Some will be escaping domestic and family violence and have nowhere else to turn. Modular Spaces and Gallagher Jeffs hope their involvement in the much-needed project will inspire others in the property and construction industry to offer their skills, time or resources.
“We recognise that projects like The Nest are often underfunded and rely heavily on pro bono contributions,” says Tim. “By offering our management skills, we help bridge the gap between limited resources and the need for high-quality project execution. We hope our commitment to The Nest inspires other businesses to also contribute their resources to similar causes, encouraging more widespread support for vulnerable populations.”
