Jess Davis, Head of Property at KPMG, has signed up for the 10km run in the Sydney Tour de PIF on 13 September and rallied her teammates to join in the fun.
Having completed the 10km run at last year’s Sydney Tour de PIF, Jess Davis is ready for a fresh challenge on 2024’s new Terrey Hills course. “I’ve signed up for the 10km run, which was a real test last year on rough terrain and in the rain. But I loved the challenge and something to train for over the winter. In preparation, I’m trying to keep up my regular gym sessions and adding a longer run each weekend.”
A more accessible location in Terrey Hills and the Ku-ring-gai National Park has made it easy for Jess to convince her team to join her on the day. “It’s great to see a new location, it’s made it more convenient for people to come along. And we are using the day to celebrate in teams, many walking together. It’s also become a bit competitive with the fundraising, which is always great to raise funds for this important cause.”
A member of our Tour de PIF Sydney organising committee, Jess has led by example in encouraging more KPMG staffers to sign up. “We are lucky at KPMG to have a workforce of young active individuals and lots of teams have rallied to come together on the day to do something active,” says Jess. “Many are using their annual volunteer day to join in. I’ve done lots of sprucing at group meetings and emailing to get up the registrations. We have a few key influencers that have also been lobbying the different teams.”
Although there are many different levels of Tour de PIF activity to choose from this year, there are other ways to be involved. “Even if you don’t want to be part of the active event, I’d encourage you to get in touch to volunteer on the day,” says Jess. “We have lots of staff who want to give back in this way, where exercise is not their thing, but they are still excited to be part of the day and supporting the cause.”
Jess has enjoyed donating her time and skills to give back to homeless youth. “There is a great deal of passion on the committee,” says Jess. “I now have a great appreciation for the legacy of the Tour de PIF. It’s nice to be making a difference and driving participation, as well as shaping the event for future generations of Foundation supporters.”
The Tour de PIF inspires connection, community and purpose within the property and construction industry. “We’ve always been aligned to the Property Industry Foundation at KPMG, thanks to Steve Gatt’s legacy,” says Jess. “And it’s great to be able to contribute to such an important cause and allow our team the chance to connect while being out of the office and raising awareness and funds.”
We’re looking for more teams like KPMG to take on the Tour de PIF challenge! Sign up for this year’s Sydney Tour de PIF on 13 September and choose from a wide range of walking, running and cycling events that will give you something to train for in the cooler months!
