As we gear up for a revitalised Sydney Tour de PIF on 13 September, we talked to The GPT Group’s Project Director Mo Rengaswamy, a member of our Tour de PIF organising committee, about taking on the 60km cycle event.
Why did you sign up for the Sydney Tour de PIF?
To participate in our industry’s leading philanthropic event and, of course, to assist those less fortunate than ourselves. The small team at the Property Industry Foundation are such a motivated group of people that their energy is infectious. I like the idea of supporting the Haven Project, as the initiative of building homes for youth homelessness charities is so valuable to create positive change.
What event are you signing up for?
I’m doing the 60km ride. I will find this distance a challenge compared to previous years as I’m certainly not as fit as I used to be or want to be. I plan to recommence riding into work and hopefully this sets me up well for the event.
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
The camaraderie of our industry peers coming together after the event to support a great cause. The event always brings great stories of challenges and laughter.
Will you be part of a team for the GPT Group?
The GPT Group will certainly be putting a team together, which I’ll be part of. Being in a team brings opportunity for banter, which makes for fun and games in the build up to the event and on the day. Company teams encourage positive fundraising rivalries which is also fun to watch!
What would you say to encourage others to join in the fun?
In our 15th year of the event, there are more opportunities than ever to participate, including walking, running and cycling. You can pick an event that will challenge you a little and as motivation, it’s also an opportunity to boost your fitness. We are also bringing the event back to the Terrey Hills area and to a new venue, Miramare Gardens, which has ample room for networking and celebration after the event.
Give it a go, have fun, create some positive rivalries, laugh and enjoy the day for a great cause. What’s not to love!?
Sign up for this year’s Sydney Tour de PIF on 13 September and you’ll be spoilt for choice with a wide range of walking, running and cycling events. Gather a company team or take on a solo challenge and get fit for spring!
