Successful renovations to Burdekin house in Dee Why
Everyone here at PIF is grateful to be getting back into the swing of things with regards to building and renovation projects.
Working with the Multiplex team who have just completed a commercial build in St Leonards and a raft of their partners, we recently completed a much-needed renovation on a house owed by our charity beneficiary Burdekin in Dee Why.
The works included the widening of a driveway and new retaining wall; landscaping and fencing tidy-up.
Two complete kitchen renovations included new joinery, splashbacks and flooring. New appliances such as an ovens, cooktops and exhaust hoods were procured and the whole kitchen received a lick of paint.
The building received a brand new laundry with enviable customised storage space and workbenches made more versatile with new under counter front loader washing machines and dryers. Finally, new lighting was installed in the living area to brighten the space up and security lights replaced outside.
This house provides transitional living and counseled support for up to three young people in need, helping them grow and get on their feet in more ways than one. Having a freshly renovated home helps create a welcoming space for youth to feel comfortable to be themselves and open to dealing with issues they’re facing in order to grow from their experiences.
“On all of our projects Multiplex looks for way to make connections with the community that will have a lasting impact. Working with PIF and Burdekin and leveraging our supply chain to deliver this much needed renovation was an ideal way to create value for the community that will be felt long after we have finished the project. It was a pleasure to be involved,” said Paul Couani, Project Manager, Multiplex.

“For the young people who live here, this renovation is about so much more than having a better quality of living. It supports aspiration, self-worth and mental well-being; something, you cannot put a price on,” said Maureen Collins, Head of Fundraising at PIF.
A very special thanks must go to Matt Nugent (Burdekin), Jade Nicholson (Multiplex) and Maureen Collins (PIF) for bringing the project to fruition.
