Probuild's workerbee for the latest Property Industry Foundation build for Melbourne City Mission
Following the stellar efforts by the Probuild team on their late November workerbee for the Melbourne City Mission house project the Rosanna site, we caught up with Sarah Chan from Probuild to understand why they committed to getting their hands dirty for homeless youth this end of the year.
Tell us about your community project team activity
Each year Probuild employees have the opportunity to volunteer their time to a worthy cause and make a difference to our community. This year, thanks to our newly formed PIF relationship, we teamed up with Melbourne City Mission to improve a family crisis accommodation refuge in Rosanna. We spent the weekend in the garden cleaning pavement, building garden beds, planting seedlings and creating a family friendly area – perfect for summer BBQ’s during the warmer weather.
Why did you choose the Rosanna site?
Not only does Probuild want to build on our newly established relationship with PIF, but we also believed this cause was very important especially after the lockdowns we’ve had in Melbourne. We selected the Rosanna site because their crisis accommodation helps victims of domestic abuse and their children, and we hoped we could contribute to making a positive impact during these difficult times, in one of the most difficult years. During the past lockdowns, Melbourne has had an increase in domestic violence cases and we wanted to be able to help in any way we could.
Probuild is passionate about making a difference and creating a positive change by helping our community. In addition, our annual community project creates an excellent opportunity for the graduates at Probuild to take the reins and use their skills they’ve learnt on the job in planning and organising for the community project.
