It’s been another amazing year of Hard Hat fundraising, with $150,000 raised through onsite barbecues, relaxed breakfasts, bustling bake sales, raffles, generous pay donations, and more. There are lots of Hard Hat events to come in the final months of the year, with all funds raised supporting homeless youth and the Foundation’s ongoing building projects. Here are some Hard Hat highlights so far!

One hundred tradies, project managers and executives on AVID Property Group’s residential development sites passed around the hard hat in August, raising more than $13,000 in donations at three Hard Hat Day events, held at its residential community developments at Amara (Ormeau, Queensland), Covella (Greenbank, Queensland), and Vantage Bloomdale (Diggers Rest, Victoria).

Scope Projects are out in front on the Hard Hat leaderboard with $30,000 raised through a fun breakfast event on 30 August at their new Crows Nest office in Sydney. Property Industry Foundation CEO Kate Mills joined Scope’s trade partners and dedicated staff to share insights on Haven Project building projects and the work the Foundation does to support vulnerable young Australians.

“Hard Hat Day has become a cherished tradition for our team—a chance to step away from the hustle of daily work, unite for a cause close to our hearts, and create a meaningful event for our trade partners and suppliers,” said Christina Paterson, Sales & Operations Director, Scope Projects. “As a proud gold partner of the Property Industry Foundation, this breakfast serves as our primary fundraiser of the year, and it is a highlight on our calendar.”

Our friends at Roberts Co got behind Hard Hat in 2024 – raising close to $18,000 through Hard Hat raffles, morning teas and BBQs across all their sites, including a Head Office bake sale on 30 August. “At Roberts Co, we’re honoured to partner with the Property Industry Foundation throughout the year, championing meaningful initiatives like Tour de PIF, the Charity Regatta and contributing our resources and teams to build housing to support homeless youths in Australia. A huge thank you to the Foundation for your relentless commitment to supporting youth in need and to our amazing team at Roberts Co who made this possible.”

Not surprisingly, team BBQs were a popular Hard Hat activity again this year. CJ Homes  raised over $2,000 at their sausage sizzle, doubling their goal. Building Engineering raised over $10,000, hosting a fundraising barbecue for over 200 people at their Glenroy Depot site.

Taylor gathered with their subcontractors for Hard Hat Day on 30 August, hosting BBQs across their project sites, raising over $6,000 towards building and renovating homes for homeless youth. Their flagship site was at Darcy Road Public School, bringing school and construction communities together for a good cause! Our supporters at DARE Property Group also gathered their team for a barbie at their Vaucluse project Fontaine.

Teamwork was in play this year, with FDC Construction & Fitout and Dexus 480Q joining forces in support of Hard Hat Day. They set a goal to raise $5,000 to pay for four major kitchen appliances for a new home being built through the Foundation’s Haven Project. They smashed that goal and are now at over $8,000! You can support them here.

MPA, Ashurst and Architectus united for a morning tea which raised nearly $9,000 for Hard Hat Day. Social enterprise Too Good Co provided beautiful catering for the event. Ashurst Head of Workplace, Michael Blitz, said, “Ashurst is proud to support MPA in hosting a Hard Hat event at our future office at 39 Martin Place. We are pleased to join hands with the Property Industry Foundation in its mission to combat youth homelessness, and we are committed to making a difference and providing hope to those in need. We are extremely proud to have worked alongside our partners and unite our communities in a common goal.”

Charter Hall came together with their tenant customer GWA Group for Hard Hat Day at GWA’s Prestons facility. “With 44,000 young Australians without a place to sleep each night, The Foundation’s mission to provide safe and secure accommodation is crucial,” said Charter Hall. “This event is a great example of how we can make a meaningful impact in our communities through partnership. A big thank you to everyone who attended or donated online, and to GWA for helping to host the event.”

Over the past 15 years, the Dennis Family Corporation have donated more than $250,000 towards the Hard Hat campaign. In 2024, company founder Bert Dennis and wife Dawn raised a total of $8,500 from the combined proceeds of individual staff pay donations, a morning tea at the company’s Armadale office and a separate contribution from the Dennis family. “Getting behind the Property Industry Foundation’s major fundraising effort each year has become ingrained in the fabric of our organisation. Our people always respond so generously,” says Bert Dennis’s eldest daughter Adele Levinge.

We are grateful for further Hard Hat contributions from our supporters from Diadem, MPA, Core Consulting Engineers, Mirvac, CJ Homes, Logan Hospital Capital Delivery and Lendlease Construction.

Thank you to everyone for helping us strive towards a $150,000 goal for Hard Hat Day 2024. Stay tuned for more updates and visit our Hard Hat page to donate!
