Growthpoint drives mental health awareness through their Hard Hat Dart Competition
Growthpoint Properties Australia raised nearly $10,000 for Hard Hat Day through its’ Darts Competition on 25 August.
“As a supporter of mental health awareness, we chose an event where our construction partners and subcontractors could step away from the day-to-day work environment, switch off for an afternoon and have some fun raising money for the Property Industry’s Hard Hat Day,” said Sarah Wilson, Project Manager, Growthpoint Properties Australia.
“2022 has been a significant and challenging year in the construction industry and this was a great opportunity to do just that. The event was a great success, with nearly $10,000 raised for homeless youth and good feedback from those that attended,” said Wilson.
Feedback included:
“This is just what I needed”
“I had a fantastic time and was nice to step away from my usual days for once”
“Great initiative and great to catch up with everyone! I had a blast”
“It was good to do something different for a change”
“Who knew darts could be so fun”
We also received feedback from an industry supplier not in attendance who said he had heard rave reviews and would like to be included in any future events.
Mental health and wellbeing are important issues for Growthpoint and the organisation has rolled out a number of initiatives that support and raise awareness of mental health and the overall wellbeing of its employees. This support and awareness extends to its’ construction partners and subcontractors.
Growthpoint are putting measures in place to encourage its construction partners to focus more on how they care for the mental health and wellbeing of their employees and subcontractors. Supporting the Property Industry Foundation’s National Hard Hat Campaign is one of the ways it is doing this.
“Growthpoint is pleased to have the chance to continue to support the Foundation to make a tangible impact on homeless youth and we work with the Foundation in a number of ways – through our annual contribution, providing technical expertise on upcoming projects, as a member of the Haven Project Committee in Victoria and supporting the recent Coffee Roulette Mentoring program in September,” said Steve Lee, Head of Projects and Sustainability, Growthpoint Properties Australia
The Hard Hat Darts Competition was a success through the collaboration between Growthpoint and its constructions partners and subcontractors.
“We would like to thank our gold sponsors SHAPE Australia and our silver sponsors CitiBuild Constructions Pty Ltd., who helped support the event,” said Wilson. “Thanks also goes to Autex Acoustics Australia, Ceilings By Design, ALD Expert Demo, Alerton Australia, ATG Projects, Apollo Property Group, EPS and Base Building & Maintenance Services for their donations and support.”
