Richard Crookes Construction (RCC) is the Principal Partner for the Sydney SleepOut 2023, being held on 16 November in the Centennial Parklands. Team RCC will spend a night outdoors with their property and construction industry peers, in support of ending youth homelessness. We talked to Cadie Doorley, Communications and Stakeholder Manager about their commitment to the cause.
Tell us a little about your history with the Foundation?
It’s Richard Crookes Constructions’ second consecutive year as a Gold Donor to the Property Industry Foundation. We are committed to championing this vital initiative – one which directly relates to our vision of building a shared legacy. It is incredibly important we actively support the Foundation’s endeavours, even more so given Sydney is in the midst of a housing and accommodation crisis which is anticipated to accelerate in 2024.
Why did Richard Crookes want to sponsor the Sydney SleepOut?
The Sydney SleepOut is the Foundation’s flagship Future Leaders event. At RCC, we believe in growing our own – it’s our mission to guide and prepare future leaders for continued learning, development and career growth. The SleepOut is a wonderful opportunity for our young leaders to network with their peers across the construction and property industry, while raising vital funds that make a tangible impact on local communities and beyond.
Through this sponsorship, RCC gives back to the communities we live and work in, as well as our staff. We can make a real difference to those in need by coming together to show our commitment and care for young Australians facing homelessness.
What is so important about an event like this?
44,000 homeless Australians under 25 are without a safe place to sleep tonight. All Foundation events – such as the SleepOut, Tour de PIF, Regatta and Hard Hat Days – directly support the unique Haven Project’s funding model. Through fundraising efforts, RCC’s staff support this flagship home building program – each $1 raised is then matched with in-kind donations of skills, labour and goods from the wider property and construction industry. Through partnerships like this, we can double the value of every $1 donated.
Will your team be there participating on the night?
Team RCC will be showing up in force at the 2023 SleepOut. From Project Managers to Submission Coordinators, Business Development Managers to Contracts Administrators, we’ve got passionate staff across the organisation sleeping rough in Centennial Park to show their support. Outside of fundraising, this is a great opportunity to mingle and connect with future leaders from the wider industry.
It’s not too late to sign up for SleepOut Sydney on Thursday 16 November! Join us for a night of connection and community, where we hope to raise $80,000 for homeless building projects that get our youth off the streets, and into safe beds.
