Building homes for homeless youth does not end homelessness on its own. It needs a concerted and collaborative effort across all of society to have that kind of meaningful impact. However in the short term, what you help us to do makes a difference.
At this time of year there is always a rush to deliver on projects before the end of the year. At the Property Industry Foundation, we are no different and we are rushing to get lots done so that we can close the year on a high note. Our big news is that we will have two house openings this year in December.
We will be opening a 4-bedroom home in Kingaroy for homeless youth that will be run by South Burnett CTC and we will also be opening 3×2-bedroom units for young mums with kids in Shepparton for Bridge Youth Services. That’s a total of ten new bedrooms available for homeless youth in regional areas in Queensland and Victoria – which is a lot to celebrate.
Building homes for homeless youth does not end homelessness on its own. It needs a concerted and collaborative effort across all of society to have that kind of meaningful impact. But I always think that if everyone was able to lean in just a tiny bit more, we could move mountains. I am very happy with how much the team at the Property Industry Foundation and all our supporters have leaned in this year and looking forward to gearing up to have more impact in 2025.
