Raising funds for homeless youth during lockdown to keep the team connected

The Qualitas Olympics Tipping Competition, held online during the 2020 Olympics, was a great team-building activity and a fun way for the staff to connect during lockdown. The competition heated up when it was suggested that staff could donate the winnings to the Property Industry Foundation.

“We are delighted to donate the winnings from the Qualitas Olympics Tipping Competition to the Property Industry Foundation to help counteract youth homelessness,”
said Mark Fischer, co-founder and Global Head of Real Estate.

“The Property Industry Foundation is a charity that aligns with a big part of what Qualitas does – actively investing in and financing the construction of residential dwellings. The Foundation connects our giving of money and time to housing the homeless – which has a personal impact for our people.  The Olympics Tipping Competition wasn’t about winning money – it was about creating a connection for our people while working remotely and having some fun!”

In addition to this fun and fantastic team building competition, the Qualitas staff in Melbourne are excited to be participating the company’s first “Make a House a Home” day at the new PIF House Clayton – hopefully in mid-October. Covid restrictions depending.

Qualitas is one of Australia’s leading real estate investment managers.  Founded in 2008, Qualitas have invested in a range of commercial, industrial and residential real estate assets, helped its partners bring major projects to life and provided investors with strong risk-adjusted returns.

As a firm Qualitas recognises the increasing importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and believe embedding these into its governance, culture and investing approach will improve performance over time. One of its key sustainability initiatives is to partner with the Property Industry Foundation to try prevent homelessness and grant housing access/affordability partnerships.

Qualitas has been a Foundation partner for many years. Andrew Schwartz, co-founder, and Group Managing Director of Qualitas has been an active member of the Property Industry Foundation’s State Board of Advisors (Victoria) since its inception.

“We are very grateful for the contribution from the amazing staff and management team at Qualitas,” said Kate Mills, CEO, the Property Industry Foundation. “Without them, we would not be able to do what we do: provide safe homes for at-risk young people.”
