In a fun community fundraiser for the Property Industry Foundation, a team from Rider Levett Bucknall in Victoria has taken one million steps to raise funds for homeless youth.

Rider Levett Bucknall walkers set off from their workplace in Melbourne three times a week, in a bid to raise $2000 for homeless youth if they could reach their one million step goal. “Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday over a two-month period from March to May this year, a team from Rider Levett Bucknall in Victoria set off on a 20-minute walk in our lunch break to record the number of steps taken to reach our goal of one million steps,” said Arif Uzay, Director RLB. “Our goal was to raise money for the Property Industry foundation – taking steps for homeless youth. If our step goal was reached, a $2000 donation would be made to support those doing it tough and bring awareness to homeless youth.”

The fundraiser gave the Rider Levett Bucknall team a chance to get active and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young Australians. “The challenge was not only to support those in need, but to also get out of the office at lunch time to get some exercise in and boost mental health and energy levels,” said Arif.

A total of 42 staff members from the RLB Melbourne office participated throughout the event, reaching a million steps and making a $2000 donation towards projects like Haven House South-East Melbourne, a refurbishment and extension of a home for the Young Women’s Freedom Project, run by The Lighthouse Foundation and Haven House Shepparton (The Nest) will provide a haven for young mums who can live to up to five year with the support of The Bridge Youth Services.
