From family groups to future leaders, young couples and corporate CEOS – meet the  Brisbane Backseat SleepOut participants who will spend a night in their cars on 26 October to fundraise for stable and safe homes for vulnerable youth.

The Future Leaders

A big supporter of the Property Industry Foundation and an active member of our Queensland Future Leader’s Committee, Rebecca Hunter, National Digital Coordinator at Cox Architecture will be sleeping out at the Brisbane Backseat SleepOut to help build bedrooms for homeless youth. Rebecca was part of the Pedal for Homeless Youth event in Brisbane this year and last year she participated in a sleep out for Second Chance Programme, a charity that supports older women at risk of homelessness and vulnerable women with children.

Father-daughter duo Brian and Gabi Camilleri from TTM Consulting will be sleeping out at the Brisbane Backseat SleepOut to support The Haven Project – building homes for at risk youth and young mums. Gabi is a member of our Future Leaders Committee in Queensland and earlier this year she asked for her friends and family to donate money to the Property Industry Foundation, in lieu of 21st birthday gifts. She also supported the Pedal for Homeless Youth event in Brisbane. “It’s important to highlight that there is a large homeless youth population in Australia,” says Gabi. “It is my hope that now that I have introduced the Property Industry Foundation to my personal community, they will be more inclined to support the charity and attend fundraisers such as the Backseat SleepOut.”

Avril Meiklejohn, Cornerstone Group and Future Leaders Committee member will be attending the Backseat SleepOut with her husband James Meiklejohn. The newlyweds are big supporters of the Foundation and its goals. “When you hear the statistics of homeless youth within Australia, it really is an eye-opening statistic. As individuals you don’t always know how to help, but the Backseat SleepOut is one event where you can do something tangible to help raise money for projects which will impact so many young lives,” says Avril. “James and I will be joining many of our fellow industry colleagues to come together for one night to help raise both awareness and much needed funds.”

The MD

The team from Bluebird also participated in last year’s SleepOut in Brisbane and were one of the top team fundraisers. Thanks, Riye and Bluebird!
