On 25 July, Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall will come alive to the sound of pedals whirring as the industry joins forces for Pedal for Homeless Youth. We welcome The GPT Group as Major Sponsor for the event.

The GPT Group has signed on as Major Sponsor for Pedal for Homeless Youth, which challenges teams and individuals to clock their kays in a 30-minute stationary bike challenge in Brisbane’s CBD. “The GPT Foundation engages with Australian charities who place emphasis on building communities, with a particular focus on youth at risk,” says Andrea Simson, General Manager, Office, The GPT Group. “We are proud to use this platform for good and to amplify the important work and voices of organisations like the Property Industry Foundation, whose work and fundraising is critical to the health and wellbeing of homeless youth in Australia.”

“We have had a long-term partnership with the property Industry Foundation, and last year our organisation reached the milestone of $1 million in cumulative donations, which is increasing the long-term availability of transitional housing for homeless youth, and events like this continue to support this incredibly important goal.”

This fun fitness challenge is the perfect opportunity for industry groups to team build and come together for a good cause. “The GPT Foundation aims to create the most value we can for the community by providing exciting and different ways for our employees to get involved and contribute. Pedal for Homeless Youth is a great opportunity to reconnect and network with old and new industry colleagues in a convenient and accessible location, while raising money to support homeless youth. The property and construction industry, as the creator of new communities, play a meaningful role in addressing this issue and GPT are proud to once again be sponsoring Pedal for Homeless Youth and other Tour de PIF events nationally.”

A bit of banter and rivalry on the day is part of the fun, and teams will be pedalling hard in a bid to top the leaderboards. “The Foundation’s events are a great opportunity to drive friendly competition within the property industry – for a truly meaningful cause!” says Andrea. “Register as a team and set a fundraising goal, compete with your peers to raise funds, promote your fundraising campaign on social media and encourage others to join Pedal for Homeless Youth.”

Pedal for Homeless Youth will help fund projects like Haven House Kingaroy and Haven House Logan , providing support and safe havens for vulnerable young people in Queensland. “With 4,500 young people in Queensland who are without safe and secure housing, the Foundation’s Pedal for Homeless Youth is an event that shares a common goal with The GPT Foundation – to have a tangible and lasting impact on youth at risk and their futures,” says Andrea. “It’s critical partnerships like this that are helping the Property Industry Foundation with their mission to change the lives of at-risk youths, and we are incredibly proud to be supporting their work in building this much needed accommodation.”
