The team from Vaughan Constructions are supporting homeless youth by holding a Hard Hat Day at their workplace. What do your team have planned?

The Property Industry Foundation encourages the entire construction industry to get behind Hard Hat Day during July and August with a fun activity on-site or in the office.

The team from Vaughan Constructions are planning to hold a fundraising raffle with enticing prizes donated by the company’s directors. “This is our first Hard Hat Day and we’re excited to get involved and raise funds for such a good cause,” says Kate Nicolas – Director’s Assistant. “We’re really looking forward to being able to support the amazing work that the Property Industry Foundation does. It’s a great opportunity for our team to raise money and give back.”

Hard Hat Day also provides an opportunity for workplaces to engage in conversation around the ongoing issue of homelessness in Australia affecting thousands of young people. “It creates important conversations and raises awareness of youth homelessness,” says Kate. “It’s a topic that is often not discussed and the Property industry Foundation do a great job to shed light on the unfortunate reality and provide a tangible solution. The Hard Hat initiative has seen our team discuss the prevalence of youth homelessness and the sad fact that it affects such a large proportion of Australians.”

Nearly 40 per cent of Australia’s homeless population is under 25 years of age, a devastating statistic. “It is incredibly sad that there are youths in Australia that have nowhere to call home,” says Kate. “Partnering with the Property Industry Foundation and supporting their initiatives is a small way we can help give back to those less fortunate than ourselves. The homes the Foundation builds change lives.”

Hard Hat Day culminates on Friday 26 August 2022, with construction sites across Australia flying the flag for the Property Industry Foundation on cranes across their sites. Register for free and simply plan a Hard Hat event at your workplace. Put on a BBQ breakfast or lunch, cook up a bake sale or organise a raffle. Your contribution will help put a roof over the heads of our most vulnerable young Aussies.
