It was a day of wheelie good news for the 38 teams that rode the Tour de PIF Melbourne in Healesville on 17 November. The sold-out event overtook its fundraising target, raising an incredible 190K for homeless youth.

It was perfect weather for a ride through the vines for the Tour de PIF Melbourne, after months of steady training and fundraising. Setting out bright and early from RACV Healesville, 38 teams of 240 cyclists went head-to-head on a choice of 30-55-70km courses, winding through Victoria’s beautiful wine country.

With terrain to suit every rider, the tour provided a chance to escape the office, connect with industry colleagues, and raise funds for homeless youth. After the ride, cyclists rested their legs and enjoy a relaxed lunch with colleagues and friends. They had a chance to hear from speakers Jude Munro, Chair of the Victorian Planning Authority and former Australian representative cyclist Annette Edmondson. This fascinating pair spoke about Annette’s stellar cycling career as a world champion and Olympian, and Jude’s impact on creating positive change in the community.

The atmosphere in the room was one of positivity and optimism. “The Tour de PIF is a great opportunity to take part in an enjoyable, well-organised event with your team and industry colleagues,” says Andrew Whiteman, Aliro  Development Manager. “All while raising vital funds to support the Foundation’s highly impactful initiatives.”

The main goal of the day was to raise funds for The Haven Project building projects to support and house homeless youth and we smashed our fundraising target out of the park! An initial goal of $120,000 reached $190,000 in online peer-to-peer fundraising.

Generosity on the day was also outstanding, with fantastic support shown through event auctions, raffle ticket sales and pledges. It’s through our strong partnership with the industry that the Foundation can achieve our goal of offering safe, secure and supported accommodation to Australia’s most vulnerable young people. Melanie Pinto, Manager of the GPT Group said the tour was a win-win event for the industry. “Tour de PIF is a great opportunity to reconnect and network with old and new industry colleagues, all while raising money to support homeless youth.”

A round of applause for our Fundraising Champions:

Special mention to fundraising and cycling superstars Texco, who upped the ante this year and raised $50,530 – more than doubling their original target of 20K. “Tour de PIF has established itself as a really powerful platform to raise awareness throughout the broader property industry of the issue of youth homelessness, as well as showcase the impact of the important work that the Property Industry Foundation undertakes in this space,” said Texco Director Matt Barker. “Outside of the opportunity to support such an important cause, the Tour de PIF really sets itself apart as a unique day out … there’s something pretty special about a group of people taking part in a shared challenge that can galvanise that group and bring them even closer together.”

We couldn’t have done it alone – a big thank you to the amazing volunteers on the day, our Tour de PIF Committee, and our sponsors! Your support brings our caring industry together to build safe havens for at risk and vulnerable youth who need the space and support to rebuild their lives.
