Youth Homelessness

Our tangible solution

The Property Industry Foundation works with the industry to increase the supply of accommodation for homeless youth.
Youth homelessness affects 44,000 young Australians and every night 1 in 3 young people are turned away from accommodation.
Homelessness is one of the most severe forms of disadvantage and social exclusion that any young person can experience.

Major triggers for young people becoming homeless includes family violence, relationships breakdowns, alcohol and drug use.

Charity Partners

We work collaboratively with other charities to break the cycle of youth homelessness and changing lives for the better.

The Foundation works with established youth homelessness charities that run the homes that we build.

If your charitable organisation is interested in becoming a Property Industry Foundation beneficiary, please review our National Funding Guidelines and if you meet the criteria, complete and submit.

Your Impact

The property and construction industry creates and shapes communities. When young people live in safe housing and have the right support, the benefits are like a ripple across society as they find employment, create stable relationships and contribute to their community. They need a safe and secure place to rebuild their lives.

The Haven Project

We build homes for well-established youth homelessness charities which then operate them.

We have built over 200 bedrooms, 100 of those have been built since 2018 as bedroom building strategy accelerated.

Corporate Volunteering

We offer engagement opportunities for teams to make a house a home. Take a team of colleagues and friends and help us put together the living spaces for the young people.

At-Risk Youth

Behind the numbers are many more at-risk young people who need help.

We fund early intervention programs and initiatives that offer new ways to break the cycle of homelessness.
