Vanessa Borg took out the top spot in the 30-Day Fitness Challenge last year, and in 2022 she achieved an even greater fundraising target – 12K in 30 days.

The MPA Project Manager hit the gym daily during May – pledging to clock 6km a day and personally raised a huge $12,000 for youth homelessness. “I’ve had the same approach every year,” says Vanessa of her incredible contribution, which saw her rise to number #1 on the fundraising leader board and smash her goal. “Posting on social media and speaking with my trades on site! It seems to work.”

Vanessa used the challenge as a fitness kickstart into the cooler months. “The challenge sets me up for winter to keep going with my workouts and of course the weight loss is always great.”

Work commitments and illness provided some roadblocks this year, but Vanessa was determined to push on. “It has been harder this year. I’ve had such a busy month with projects. It hasn’t been easy trying to balance life, family, workouts, work and a handover. I also got the flu and it set me back five days, so I lost some of my kilometres.” On site, she’s had lots of encouragement from her subcontractors to keep lacing up her running shoes. “My subbies are my biggest supporters; they have been great.”

Raising money for homeless youth and conquering her personal fitness goals has made the hard yards worth it. Vanessa also contributes as Co-Chair of our Future Leaders Committee in Victoria, which gathers early-career professionals from across the industry who want to make a difference. “I’m proud I made it through the entire month and I have managed to reach my 12K goal. I have to be happy with that achievement. To be personally involved in this fantastic charity is an honour. Love your work Property Industry Foundation!”

While the challenge has officially hit its last day, you can still show support to our fantastic fitness fundraisers by donating to the teams and individuals that did such a great job over the past 30 days.
