When The Property Industry Foundation’s Victorian Board of Advisors was informed last year of an opportunity to assist Melbourne City Mission with the provision of flooring for its new youth refuge house in Sunshine, Board Member Adele Levinge of the Dennis Family Group did not hesitate to act.

“Housing construction is an integral part of our business, so we were ideally positioned to contribute to a project I felt compelled to give a helping hand to,” she says.

Adele turned to the Procurement team at her family business’s housing division Dennis Family Homes, which enlisted the support of its long-standing and trusted flooring suppliers Carpet Call.

“Melbourne City Mission had quite specific needs for various types of flooring for the new property,” Adele explains.

“But in conjunction with Carpet Call, we were able to overcome all obstacles, including various periods of COVID restrictions, to successfully provide and install new hybrid flooring in the living areas and bedrooms, vinyl flooring in the wet areas throughout the home and carpet tiles in the office area,”

This project continues the long association between the Dennis Family Corporation and The Property Industry Foundation. Adele’s father, Bert Dennis is DFC ‘s Founding Chairman and in 2008 became the inaugural Chairman of The Foundations’s Victorian Board of Advisors, serving until 2010. The family connection with PIF extended when Adele joined the Victorian Board of Advisors in 2018.

The project was further helped by Egans who donated over $3,300 worth of in-kind services to move house furniture, store it and return back to the house upon completion of work.

Melbourne City Mission CEO, Vicki Sutton, thanks the Property Industry Foundation for their continued support.

“The support of the Property Industry Foundation always goes a long way ensuring MCM youth refuges are of a high standard to ensure we provide a safe, secure and welcoming places for young people who may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness”.

“We are truly grateful for their on-going support of our youth homelessness programs.”
