Colliers is at the helm as Principal Partner in the 25th Annual Sydney Regatta for Homeless Youth.

Colliers is joining the Property Industry Foundation in celebrating 25 years of sailing for homeless youth, as Principal Partner for the Sydney Charity Regatta in 2024. Held at the stunning Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in Darling Point, the regatta brings the industry together for a day of sailing, connection and fundraising. We talked to Malcom Tyson, Colliers Chief Executive Officer, Australia about their ongoing commitment to supporting Australia’s most vulnerable young people.

This milestone will be a great reminder for our broader industry of the important work the Foundation does and the critical role we can all play through corporate contributions and volunteering.”

Malcom Tyson, Colliers

Why has Colliers continued as the Principal Partner of the Sydney Charity Regatta for 2024?

Our longstanding partnership reflects Colliers values to do what’s right for our clients, people and communities. We have seen firsthand how our corporate support helps build and operate housing where young people can rebuild their lives. Knowing we are making a difference to this vulnerable part of society, is why we have continued to partner with the Property Industry Foundation for over 20 years, providing not only financial support but also volunteering hours and industry expertise. We are looking forward to further expanding our volunteering commitment in 2024, as part of our Collies Gives program and overarching ESG strategy.

The 2024 Sydney Charity Regatta will be commemorating 25 years of sailing for homeless youth. What are some of your favourite memories?

It will be a special one this year, getting to reflect on the collective impact we have made supporting young Australians in need over this time period. More importantly this milestone will be a great reminder for our broader industry of the important work the Foundation does; and the critical role we can all play through corporate contributions and volunteering. There have been countless great memories from past events. Our team was particularly excited when they got to race on Andoo Comanche – a once in a lifetime experience.

What are you looking forward to this year?

We like to get a real mix of our people out to the Sydney Charity Regatta each year. It’s always great to see those new to the event experience the racing for such a wonderful cause, on the world’s best harbour, and then enjoy the chance to network at such a well-attended industry event.

Why should people in the industry join in the fun and put a crew together?

It’s such a unique and special experience to be able to sail on Sydney Harbour with a professional crew – whether with colleagues or clients. It’s really unlike any other fundraising event on the property calendar. The afterparty is also a relaxed environment to build relationships across the industry, and never fails to deliver a good time. While knowing the event going towards such an important cause.

Why is it important for Colliers to support building homes for homeless youth?

We are an industry with a collective skillset that can provide such a wide range of support to get these homes up and running and it’s important to us that we come together with our peers and do our bit. It very much forms part of our Colliers values.
