MCM move into the new West Refuge
The Property Industry Foundation brought together a sensational group of consultants and builders to deliver pro bono services to build a 10-bedroom accommodation centre for Melbourne City Mission (MCM) in Wyndham, in western Melbourne.
The West Refuge project was primarily funded by a $3.5 million investment from the Victorian Government, however, for two years, the Hacer Group have led a team of high-calibre consultants, including Turner & Townsend Thinc, Group GSA, Tract Consultants, PLP Building Surveyors, Morris Goding Access Consulting, Rider Levett Bucknall, Nationwide, Irwin, WSP, and Maddocks to deliver the West Refuge for the Melbourne City Mission through a combination of pro-bono donations and services valued over $465,000.

The Hacer Group are such a trusted pair of hands that not even a global pandemic and subsequent restrictions stopped them from completing this youth refuge for homeless young people aged between 16 and 25 years.
This refuge was purpose-built and will operate as the ‘gold standard’ of youth crisis accommodation in Victoria. It will have an increased capacity of 10 beds and will have 24-hour support workers on-site, working with the young people on issues ranging from legal, health, drug and alcohol, family support, parenting and mental health, as well as support to find medium- and long-term housing solutions.
