In 2023, Hard Hat events raised nearly $100,000 in support of homeless youth, with our industry supporters getting creative with their fundraising ideas. Events ranged from golden raffles to onsite BBQs, café brekkies, staff bake offs, and even a hard hat decorating competition!

A huge thanks to all the organisations and individuals who participated in the 20th anniversary year of Hard Hat Day, with more fun events to come: this DIY fundraising initiative culminates in August but can be held any time of the year!

Dennis Family Corporation

Keeping their Hard Hat Day tradition alive for an incredible 15 years, the Dennis Family Corporation held their annual Hard Hat Day for homeless youth with an end of financial year tax appeal that raised $8,500. Staff donated an hour from their June salary. “The passion and generosity shown by our people for this cause remains as strong as ever!” says Bert Dennis, Founding Chairman.

Thanks, team DFC!

Scope Projects

In just their second year of participating in Hard Hat Day, Scope Projects achieved an extraordinary feat by bringing their community together and raising an impressive $30,000 for The Haven Project. Scope held a relaxed breakfast event at The Incinerator Café in Willoughby, NSW, where they invited their key subcontractors to join in the fun. The breakfast served not only as a gesture of appreciation to their hardworking team but also as a platform to rally support for homeless youth. The event was met with overwhelming generosity from their community. “We are thrilled to share that we raised over $30,000 for Hard Hat Day, the outpouring of support and generosity left us completely overwhelmed,” said Christina Paterson of Scope Projects.

MPA

MPA held two impactful Hard Hat events this year. At their live site on Goulburn Street, MPA hosted a breakfast in partnership with Brookfield and Arcadia, giving subcontractors the chance to learn about the Foundation’s work. At their completed fit-out site in Barangaroo, another breakfast was organised in partnership with Westpac. Sub-contractors and the Westpac Property Team got the opportunity to hear about the Foundation and its impact on homeless young people through ongoing building projects and charity partners support programs. These events combined to raise nearly $8,587.

AVID Property Group

Our valued national partners, AVID Property Group hosted two on-site Hard Hat BBQs in Victoria, raising $1850 for homeless youth. These breakfast and lunch events provided attendees with the opportunity to learn about the Foundation’s mission from Victorian State Manager Priscilla Heathwood. AVID’s commitment to assisting homeless youth in rebuilding their lives strongly aligns with their broader mission of fostering a more connected community.

St Hilliers

St Hilliers hosted multiple BBQ’s and office pizza parties in support of Hard Hat Day across their NSW and QLD offices. This also included a webinar from the Property Industry Foundation’s QLD team, sharing the impact of the Foundation’s building program, The Haven Project on the lives of homeless youth.

Taylor Construction

Taylor Construction held five lively Hard Hat BBQs across Sydney sites on the 25 August, raising over $20,000 for the Property Industry Foundation. The flagship event at Rosebery Engine Yard included the Foundation’s Acting CEO Steve Gatt speaking about how a safe and secure home can have profound impact on vulnerable youth. These delicious BBQ lunches, generously sponsored by subcontractors, not only fuelled the cause but fostered connections within the construction and property community. “Team Taylor is passionate about its advocacy for this important, industry-led cause,” said Mark Taylor, Managing Director.

Lendlease

Lendlease held simultaneous BBQs on all sites around NSW on Hard Hat Day, raising close to $6,500. The flagship BBQ took place at premiere site One Circular Quay, where the Foundation flag was raised and the Foundation’s Acting CEO Steve Gatt spoke about the impact of the Foundation on homeless youth and future projects.

Kate Nixon

In support of Hard Hat Day, the Kate Nixon team raised nearly $1300 hosting a morning tea and bake off with co-working company Desk Space in support of the Foundation. We bet the event was super stylish!

AECOM

In a fun initiative, AECOM brought their team together to decorate a hard hat in support of Hard Hat Day. This was as part of their end of month social calendar to highlight the importance of the Foundation and its impact on at risk young people.

Chalouli

In support of Hard Hat Day, Chalouhi celebrated the third annual Chalouhi Golden Bucket Raffle, held throughout September. This popular fundraiser raised an impressive $18,500 for homeless youth. The raffle featured major prizes totalling $5,200, taken home by three lucky winners. Big thanks to ticket buyers, prize contributors, and Chalouhi for digging deep for young people in need.
