A great day at the rainy Royal Brighton Yacht Club
The 2021 Melbourne Charity Regatta was an opportunity for the property and construction industry to get back together face-to-face at the beautiful Royal Brighton Yacht Club.
We were excited at getting everyone together but unfortunately the weather did not play ball and we had to cancel the racing element of the day. These are not decisions that we take lightly and there are a lot of conversations behind the scenes before we cancel any event. However, in the end safety is paramount and we took the advice from Commodore Peter Strain and his team that it would not be smooth sailing on the day.
The word ‘pivot’ is built into the DNA of the Property Foundation, so we immediately got word out and focused on the onshore elements – an afternoon of fun, frivolity and fundraising at the club. We were delighted that so many of you came down to network and support the Foundation on the day.
We had some great speeches from Lighthouse Foundation founder Susan Barton and well-known ocean racer Grant Dunoon about his adventures on the water. Thanks to everyone who came down and those who donated their time for us to host this event – in particular the Foundation’s Victorian Sailing Committee led by Stephen Cheney.
There’s always a special kind of energy in the room at the Foundation’s event, created from the industry coming together for such a great cause – to have a tangible impact on youth homelessness through our home-building program. The current home we are building for homeless youth in Clayton will go live in July. Stay tuned for an invite to come to the opening, and for the announcement of our next project. Thanks, as ever, for your support.
