This year’s QLD SleepOut will be held on the rooftop at QueensPlaza in Brisbane’s CBD, an area of the city known for a high population of rough sleepers.
Queensland’s property and construction industry will spend a night sleeping under the stars at QueensPlaza, owned by Vicinity Centres. It’s our eighth year of asking the industry to endure a rough night’s sleep, in solidarity with the estimated 44,000 young Aussies who don’t have a place to call home.
Vicinity has been a partner to the Property Industry Foundation since 2016, and is generously providing its QueensPlaza rooftop to support our annual SleepOut charity event on Thursday, 15 September, which raises funds for homeless youth.
“The SleepOut aligns with Vicinity’s Community Partnerships aim by strategically supporting issues that impact both our centres and our local communities,” says Vicinity Centres Queensland Regional General Manager, Daniel Sutton. “Too many young Australians don’t have a place to call home, and we all have a part to play to help reduce this. I’m proud that we can help raise awareness of youth homelessness by hosting the Property Industry Foundation SleepOut on the rooftop of QueensPlaza. I’m calling on Queenslanders, industry and retail partners to pitch-in to raise much needed funds to help end an issue facing too many of our youth.”
In 2021 the QLD SleepOut raised $33,000 during a pandemic. This year we’re aiming to hit our increased target of $50,000 and double the attendance from last year.
