The Foundation’s NSW Future Leaders Committee held a special gathering on Thursday 16 October at GEYER VALMONT in Sydney’s CBD – engaging emerging leaders of the industry in giving back to homeless youth.

We love the passion and energy of the NSW Future Leaders Committee (FLC). In April this year, they organised SleepOut for Homeless Youth at Centennial Park, which raised $200,000 for homeless youth – doubling their original fundraising target.

To celebrate and recognise the success of the SleepOut, the FLC held a networking event on 16 October, bringing nearly 100 supporters from 25 organisations together for a night of connection and raising awareness for youth homelessness.

"The Future Leaders cohort raised $200,000 for the Foundation at the 2025 SleepOut – 100% over target! This event was a thank you – for their involvement and incredible fundraising – while facilitating peer-to-peer industry networking.”

Cadie DoorleyMarketing Manager at Richard Crookes Constructions and Co-Chair of the FLC.

The networking event proved a huge success with a buzz in the air. “Everyone enjoyed great food, great networking and great energy,” says Cadie. “Asahi and See Saw Wines donated drinks for the event, with 100% of proceeds going to the Foundation.”

There was also an activation space for learning more about the Foundation and its current projects. “This space included a message board where attendees could write notes to young Australians living in the spaces we’re building,” says Cadie. “It also included renders of the upcoming Haven House South Dowling so the future leaders could see where their fundraising efforts went, and a themed ‘PIF Spritz’ cocktail.”

Attendees were asked to bring a pair of socks with them – of which 150+ pairs were donated to Early Bird Café – a charity organisation serving hot breakfast and drinks every weekday morning to disadvantaged people in Sydney CBD. A raffle was held offering a first prize of a SMEG kettle and toaster, second prize ticket to the Charity Regatta afterparty and third prize of a SleepOut ticket. A ‘Networking Bingo’ competition kickstarted many conversations and new connections.

“This cohort is critical,” Cadie stresses. “In 10-20 years, these future leaders will be spearheading the property and construction industry. By connecting them to our cause and with their peers, awareness and engagement with the Foundation continues to increase. We look forward to 2026 and celebrating the success of this cohort as they come together for the next SleepOut – here’s to exceeding 2025’s phenomenal fundraising target!”

Thanks to the FLC for organising the event and our sponsors Asahi, See Saw Wines and GEYER VALMONT.
