Safe Homes, Changed Lives: William Campbell Foundation Celebrates 30 Years with the Foundation
William Campbell Foundation (formerly William Campbell College) is deeply grateful to the Property Industry Foundation (the Foundation) for being one of our earliest partners, helping to turn our founder Bill Campbell’s vision into reality.
Our partnership began in 1998 and has remained strong ever since. At a pivotal time in our development, the Foundation made a generous and practical contribution that fast-tracked our ability to provide safe and stable homes for children and young people who could not live with their families. Through the donation of two Sydney Olympic Village houses, valued at $95,000 at the time. The Foundation enabled us to create a six-bedroom cottage on our farm. These homes were joined together to form a warm and welcoming environment that has supported countless children over the years.
No one understood the importance of a safe and stable home better than Bill. Having experienced hardship himself, he believed deeply that a secure roof over a child’s head could change the course of their life. The Foundation’s support brought that belief to life, creating not just a house, but a place of safety, belonging, and hope.
Importantly, the Foundation’s commitment extended far beyond the initial donation. On two occasions, busloads of volunteers travelled to our property to participate in working bees, further strengthening the homes and grounds. Bill often spoke about the generosity and spirit of those involved.
“the people connected to the Property Industry Foundation were some of the most generous I have ever met without them, we would not be where we are today.”
William Campbell
In 2005, the Foundation again demonstrated its ongoing commitment by donating a second six-bedroom home on our farm, allowing us to provide care for even more children and young people in need.
These two properties have been transformational for our organisation. Over the years, they have provided a stable, nurturing environment for many children and young people, giving them the opportunity to heal, grow, and build positive futures.
As the Foundation celebrates 30 years, we acknowledge with sincere gratitude the incredible impact of your support. You have helped create not just buildings, but homes, and in doing so, you have changed lives.
