A New Kitchen for Murri Watch

A 30-year-old kitchen got a much-needed refurb, thanks to ADCO’s Community Day team.

An enthusiastic volunteer team from ADCO Constructions stepped away from their normal roles this week to refurbish a kitchen for the Murri Watch Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation in Brisbane. The 30+ year-old original kitchen is now modern and functional, with new joinery, fittings, flooring, paint and appliances. “ADCO is delighted to working with long-time partners The Property Industry Foundation and trade partners to deliver a project for Murri Watch in Woolloongabba. This is one of eight Community Day projects delivered across Queensland as part of ADCO’s Community Day,” said Mitch Howe – Contracts Administrator, and Wes Henshaw – Senior Estimator. “Making this project even more important is that we have been able to deliver it during National NAIDOC Week celebrations allowing our people and partners the opportunity to show appreciation for our Elders.”

The team from ADCO showed true teamwork as they overhauled the centre’s tired kitchen. “The ADCO Constructions team had a great day and enjoyed every minute of breathing new life into the Murri Watch kitchen,” said Business Development Manager Susan Mercer. “We hope the refurbished kitchen will serve meals to their clients for many years to come.”

The Property Industry Foundation and its charity partners relies on amazing volunteer efforts, like this one from ADCO. “This team and their trade partners did an exceptional job transforming a 30+ year old original kitchen to a functioning one which was so desperately needed by the centre,” said the Foundation’s QLD State Manager Antoinette Rusby-Perera. “Special thanks to Susan Mercer, Mitch Howe and Wesley Henshaw for leading this project.”
