A rainy winter night didn’t deter the crowds from coming out in support of Construction Rocks – the property and construction industry’s ultimate battle of the bands. Seven amazing music acts took to the stage at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on 1 August, delivering hit-after-hit.
Best Band of the night was awarded to MoTTown from Mott MacDonald, who blended pop, folk, jazz, rock and metal in an electric performance. Off the CHarts from Charter Hall took out both People’s Choice and Top Fundraising band, raising an incredible $21, 468 in the fight against youth homelessness.
Thanks to all the bands that entertained us on the night and raised awareness and funds for vulnerable young people: The Xavier Knights (supported by Xavier Knight), The Windjammers (JHA Engineers), Sounds like a Plan (mixed industry professionals), Create Havoc (Equator Principles ), and AUR Rock On (Aurecon Group). “What a fantastic event with some incredible talents across the industry!” said the event’s Principal Partner ACOR Consultants. “The bands and the audience rocked Oxford Art Factory. Huge congratulations to the Foundation on the event’s success and to MoTTown from Mott MacDonald, the winner of the Battle of the Bands. As the Principal Partner of the event, we are deeply grateful for the chance to participate in it and help the lives of homeless youth in our community. We hope everyone had a fantastic time, just as Team ACOR did. More importantly, we hope the funds raised at this event will make a difference in the future of homeless youth.”
Behind the scenes, our organising committee has worked tirelessly to grow Construction Rocks into a smash success. “Construction Rocks is undoubtedly my favourite event of the year,” says Committee Member Victoria Ferguson, from Rider Levett Bucknall. “Since its inception in 2015, I’ve had the privilege of being involved, and each year, I’m amazed by how the quality of the bands keeps soaring. Their talent truly leaves me in awe. I’m also incredibly proud to be part of an industry that unites to raise essential funds and awareness for the Property Industry Foundation. This year, I’m speechless—never did I imagine we’d be able to raise enough to build a bedroom, but we did! We’ve skyrocketed from raising around $12,000 a few years ago to over $50,000 this year!”
