Haven House Woolloongabba delivers six safe homes and wrap-around support for young people escaping homelessness

The Property Industry Foundation celebrated the official opening of Haven House Woolloongabba in Brisbane on 2 September 2026. This new transitional housing development was delivered in partnership with The Salvation Army Youth Services QLD to support young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Haven House Woolloongabba transforms a long-held Brisbane property into six self-contained one-bedroom apartments alongside a shared Youth Hub, offering safe, stable and supported housing for some of Queensland’s most vulnerable young people. The project reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to providing real pathways out of homelessness through the collective strength of the property and construction industry.

A Home and a Program, Combined
The Salvation Army Youth Services QLD will be delivering their Education Pathway Housing Program, an initiative designed to break the cycle of youth homelessness by pairing stable accommodation with comprehensive, wrap-around support including therapeutic case management, education and employment pathways, life skills development, and aftercare transition support.
Rob Ellis, State Manager, Youth QLD at The Salvation Army, said the opening marked a significant milestone.
“The opening of Haven House Woolloongabba is such an important step for us in terms of being able to provide long-term housing opportunities for young people who want to remain engaged in education. What we find is so many young people are dropping out of school as a result of becoming homeless, so this is a particular response to that real issue.”
Built on a cluster model, the six units were co-designed with young people who have experienced homelessness, ensuring the space fosters long-term stability and personal growth in a therapeutic, supportive environment.
Making a Measurable Difference
Haven House Woolloongabba will support at-risk and homeless young people under 18, with residents contributing approximately 30 per cent of their income, around $99 per week from Youth Allowance. With capacity for six residents at any one time, the home is expected to support around eight young people each year, with stays of up to two years depending on individual need.
Built Through Industry Collaboration
The Foundation extended its thanks to Project Partner Frank Developments, whose team was involved from the project’s earliest stages.
“Frank Developments are incredibly proud to be part of this amazing opportunity,” said James Strahan, Project Director at Frank Developments. “We were involved with the project from an early stage, designing the layout of each individual unit and project managing it all the way through.”
