Essence Project Management mixes pro bono and donor support to offer a lifeline to homeless youth.
Essence has supported the Property Industry Foundation since 2017 as a valued Platinum Donor in NSW. They’re now stepping up to National Donorship and have also joined our Haven House Committee, which oversees The Haven Project, building homes for homeless youth. “Participating on the Haven House Committee allows us to bring our skill sets to bear in the hands-on executive custodianship of this incredible program,” says Director David Radford.
Essence is also providing Project Management services on the in-progress Haven House South Dowling, an ambitious 19-bedroom new-build in Sydney’s inner city, to be run by the Salvation Army. “Since our founding, we have chosen the Property Industry Foundation as the major beneficiary of our corporate philanthropy,” says David. “We believe that the Foundation demonstrates the property industry’s unique ability to mobilise its skill, experience and fundraising capacity for the benefit of homeless youth.”

Offering pro bono support on Haven House Dulwich Hill, and working now on South Dowling, has allowed Essence to be bring its hands-on and experience to bear for a fantastic tangible outcome. “Pro bono services are an excellent way to support Property Industry Foundation activities outside of direct donations,” says David. “They also offer Essence staff the opportunity and exposure directly to the organisations and people that the Foundation aims to support, making the outcomes of our efforts real and meaningful. Offering time and skills is a fantastic opportunity for industry participants to support the Foundation when direct donorship capital may be constrained.”
Work is well underway with the South Dowling Haven Project, with a start date in sight for late 2024. “Essence is engaged as the project manager and superintendent,” says David. “We have managed the procurement and contracting of the consultant team, development of the DA scheme for the project and supported the Foundation in its discussions with the City of Sydney. Haven House Dowling Street has gone through a long pre-DA gestation and will hopefully commence on site in late 2024.”
