Building innovation at Haven House Ruth
This year we began to build Haven House Ruth, a safe and welcoming home on the Sunshine Coast for women and their children escaping domestic violence.
Each night there 4,500 young people in Queensland that do not have a safe and secure home. Two out of five of them will have reported family or domestic violence when seeking help from homelessness services.
Domestic violence is the leading cause of youth homelessness, so this home for our charity partner, the Salvation Army represents hope and provides just that to young people in Queensland that don’t have a safe place to sleep tonight.
This home is being built by Saltair Modular who have been providing Queensland families with innovative modular home designs for over 7 years.

The Salvation Army Family Violence State Manager for the Northern Territory and Queensland Dianne Gipey said construction on this project wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the industry and wider community.
“We are only able to do this important work through the support of the Queensland community and it’s thanks to their generosity that we have been able to keep up the work we do. With family and domestic violence the leading cause of homelessness, this house represents hope and provides just that to the women and youth of Queensland without a safe place to sleep tonight,” Ms Gipey said.
