01 Getting Ready for a Transformation

The refurbishment of this four bedroom house started with a massive clean up. Our industry partners, Bingo, Glad Cleaning Services and The Carpet Doctor provided pro-bono and low bono products and services to help

02 Putting the Furnish into Refurbishment

A big thank you to the King Living Foundation, a long-term supporter of the Property Industry Foundation, for playing a key role in the refurbishment of Haven Project Camperdown.

King Living’s generosity and commitment have made a significant impact, helping to provide a safe and secure home for the young people in need who will be staying in this home.

“Without the help from The Property Industry Foundation and their generous partners, it would have taken us two years to fundraise and months to complete this house, and it wouldn’t be anywhere near as welcoming and homely as it is now, I can’t put into words how grateful we are” Elaine Yallop Oasis Youth service Regional Manager.

Thank you for being an invaluable partner in this important work.

03 Sekisui House Australia makes a difference during World Homelessness Awareness Week

Coinciding with World Homeless Awareness Week, our partners, Sekisui House Australia, gathered a project team to transform a house into a home for young people who have experienced homelessness.

The cause is close to the hearts of the Sekisui House Team, and for Justin Soto, Project Director, Residential Communities & Home Building, the opportunity to pitch in and give back to the younger community just made sense.

“When you’re fortunate enough to be involved in big, exciting residential projects you can sometimes get lost in the thrill of it all and forget the fundamental reason why homes are created in the first place – shelter. The opportunity to partner with the Property Industry Foundation and contribute to helping the Salvation Army keep this basic human need accessible to young people is both rewarding and necessary. At a time when the current housing crisis is affecting more people than ever, the property and construction industry should be doing more to help those at risk of homelessness.

I’ve been blessed to have had mentors throughout my career who have always prioritised the social, mental, physical and economic wellbeing of people so my decision to take part in the Property Industry Foundation and The Salvation Army working bee is a way of paying this forward. Through participation, I hope that Sekisui House’s team of volunteers become better educated around the issues causing thousands of young people to go without shelter every night and are inspired to play a role in finding the solutions. Giving back is always a humbling experience – I know that we will all come away with a better sense of perspective and be reminded that as a land developer and builder, we are in a privileged position to affect change.”

“All I heard when the two young people moved in yesterday was “ WOW, WHAT ARE YOU SERIOUS !! followed by tears of happiness. “ Will Mataka, Oasis Transitional Housing Manager.

Thank you to all the team members for making a meaningful difference in the lives of young Australians.
