Project Overview
Haven House Dundas is the largest houses that the Property Industry Foundation has ever worked on. It cost $2 million to refurbish the house with the Property Industry Foundation providing $800k from its fundraising activities and the industry, led by Lendlease, providing $1.2m of in-kind work and goods. It’s a great example of what can happen when the industry comes together.
The house looks after young people under 18 but also has a part of the house for those that are over 18. This latter group are often the most vulnerable as state care ends when young people turn 18. However, for many of these young people when they come out of care with no network and few skills, that is when they can be the most vulnerable to homelessness.
There are two sets of house parents in the house and these are also currently funded by the Property Industry Foundation.
Principal Funder
“Our subbies and suppliers were more than happy to come together to build these homes because they genuinely wanted to help young people in need. We welcomed our project partners to an appreciation function at our offices last week whereby the Property Industry Foundation and Wesley Mission provided an insight to the houses and expressed their personal thanks."
Joel Stringer, General Manager – NSW – Building, Lendlease.
